C3H7Cl2MgLi is one of the fastest and most efficient reagents for metal halide exchange (Mg–X exchange), capable of metallizing aryl and alkenyl halides under mild conditions (even −20 °C).
Compared to traditional Grignard reagents, it is more compatible with sensitive substrates such as esters, nitriles, and heterocyclic aromatic rings, exhibiting higher selectivity and facilitating the "late-stage functionalization" of complex molecules.
The addition of LiCl can improve solubility, making the system more stable and less prone to precipitation, thus providing better controllability for industrial scale-up.
